Orna . I saw your website in the Irish times and have enjoyed your lovely pics of Venice and comments on places to see. We are a group ( family) who will be visiting my daughter in Bologna for five days . We plan a day trip to Venice and thought of doing a guided tour but the ones I ve seen cost 69 euro per person . Is there any cheaper tours do you know ? I would love to do the underground tour of the prison cells etc .
Hi Therese. Thanks for your encouraging comments. I’m afraid I’m not really in the loop as regards prices of tours. I note that the Dungeons and Torture Chambers tour is indeed €69.00. I was invited along as a guest blogger and I would say that their guides are excellent, mostly English ladies married to Venetians, and these are really in depth tours. Of course, Venice is a brilliant city just to stroll around if you haven’t been there before. And you can tour the Doges’ Palace and the Basilica di San Marco without a guide if you like (they have headphones) and that could work, along with a good guide book. I would recommend that you try to book ahead, if possible, for both of those venues as the queues get longer and longer as the summer begins and progresses. Don’t hesitate to get back to me with any other questions and enjoy La Serenissima! Orna
